Alstom Grid is entering into a cooperation agreement with China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co. Ltd (CET) to develop Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) power transmission systems in China. CET, a 100% subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), is one of the biggest companies in China’s electric equipment industry.

Vestas grows China presence with 100MW turbine order


Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has further underlined its appeal to the Chinese markets with a 100MW order win.

The Danish manufacturer said it has not disclosed further details of the buyer on their request but has revealed that the turbines are to be used at a project in the Shandong Province.

China Smart Grid Market To HIt $61B by 2015


The total value of China’s Smart Grid market is expected to rise from US$22.3 billion in 2011 to US$61.4 billion in 2015, according to a new market report.

In 2010, China ranked number one for the first time in the world for energy consumption and total investment in clean energy. The country will hold that ranking for at least the next five years, according to analyst firm Zpryme.

New deal demonstrates solution to China wind/grid issues


China's power companies will be watching closely the results of a new deal between wind turbine manufacturer Dongfang Electric Corporation and US-based battery developer A123 Systems.

Siemens and State Grid Energy Research Institute (SGERI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Smart Grid Collaboration Research in July in Beijing, China. Austin Energy to receive plug-in electric Ram trucks; project to study electric vehicles as grid power sources


Someday in the future if there is another statewide electric grid emergency such as the one that occurred this winter, thousands of plug-in electric vehicles could receive a signal remotely to stop charging to conserve electricity or to send power from their batteries into the grid to help prevent a rolling blackout.
